Bulgaria has own program for education and innovation

The state should provide a favorable environment for innovation and development of the potential of Bulgarian economy, President Rossen Plevneliev said. He took part in the 11th edition of the National Innovation Forum dedicated to "Development of innovation environment for sustainable economic growth in Bulgaria." The Head of State encouraged the business to be more ambitious on the way to an economy based on knowledge and pointed out the good funding opportunities provided by the EU. "Bulgaria is the first EU country with its own program for education and innovation. Some 600 million euros are allocated for education and innovation and 1.4 billion more are available to businesses through the Innovation and Competitiveness OP," the President said. He also called for keeping the good pace of absorption of EU funds in 2016 and for designing a sound legal framework that is to ensure a predictable environment for the business.
