Bulgarian lawmakers voted Thursday a decision for setting up an Ad Hoc Committee on the request of Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria to waive the immunity of Ataka leader Volen Siderov in order to initiate criminal proceedings against him.

The proposal was passed with 119 votes in favour, 10 – against and 4 abstained.

The task of the Committee will be to examine whether there is sufficient evidence for committed non-political crime on the requests by the Prosecutor General from November 30, 2015.

The request was made in connection with the initiation of two preliminary proceedings under by Sofia City Court. The Ad Hoc Committee will consist of 17 MPs – two from each parliamentary group and one independent.
