Bulgarian Prosecutor General summons MIA Secretary General, head of GD National Police for emergency sitting

Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Sotir Tsatsarov convened an emergency meeting with Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior Georgi Kostov and Director of National Police General Directorate Hristo Terziyski. The meeting was focused on urgent measures for strengthening control for maintaining public order and security in the country, the press centre of the Prosecutor’s Office announced.
The meeting came after four men beaten two persons on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Sofia Ring Road.
On Thursday, Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office summoned the four attackers as accused and detained them for 72 hours for inflicting personal injuries.
The incident that occurred on Wednesday is very unpleasant and at the same time is striking with its arrogance and total breach of public order. That is what Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov said at a briefing on the occasion of the beating when four men attacked a family at Sofia ring road, a reporter of FOCUS News Agency announced.
"My first thought is that as state authorities we should stop going after the fire or after the reaction of the media," he said.
"Our response is always last. Unfortunately this subsequent reaction is, after all, non systematic," the Prosecutor General added.
In his words, the reaction of state authorities is always on a specific issue, which in any case is not good and is made public through the media.
"We have to look for systemic solutions and the approach as a whole must be changed," Sotir Tsatsarov said.
“There will be large scale of checks of people who enjoy security protection, which doesn’t comply with the requirements of the Private Security Business Act”, Sotir Tsatsarov said.
“Security companies will be checked for all the fire service weapons they have,” the Prosecutor General said.
“In the case it is about guards who were not legally recruited or benefiting from legally registered security company,” Sotir Tsatsarov specified and added that the Ministry of Interior should mobilise its entire resource to disconnect similar activity and transgressions.
“Secondly, what we discussed was related to the change of regulations. These changes should be linked with measures such as registration of security vehicles. Like service weapon subjects to registration, accompanying vehicles should also be subject of registration,” Sotir Tsatsarov said.
