Bulgaria authorities carry out inspections on commercial establishments trading in fuels

Bulgarian authorities are carrying out inspections on commercial establishments trading in fuels, the press centre of the Ministry of Interior announced.
The inspections are performed in coordination with the inter-establishment coordination centre for counteracting smuggling and for control over movement of risky goods and cargo at Bulgaria’s Directorate General for Fight against Organised Crime (GDBOP).
The authorities have so far prevented the sale of nearly 29,000 litres of fuels.
Filling stations in the towns and cities of Harmanli, Burgas, Varna, and Pleven as well as in the capital Sofia were sealed as they sold fuels of poor quality.
The authorities also established devices believed to manipulate the data submitted to the National Revenue Agency (NRA).
The Prosecutor’s Office supervises all the actions.
The specialised operation is conducted in Sofia and 15 district centres: Pernik, Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv, Ruse, Pleven, Vratsa, Montana, Stara Zagora, Gabrovo, Sliven, Dobrich, Razgrad, Pazardzhik, and Haskovo.
A preliminary selection was made of companies and commercial establishments selling and trading in fuels. 50 filling stations countrywide were chosen to be inspected on the basis of the analysis.
The most frequent violations concern the sums of money in cash drawers, level gauges, and the fiscal memory electronic system, which is thought to be used to manipulate the data submitted to the NRA.
Samples were tested in laboratories and filling stations in Harmanli, Sofia, Burgas, Varna, and Pleven selling poor-quality fuels were established.
The commercial establishments the findings were made about were sealed.
Tests continue to be run on the rest of taken samples.
The authorities have so far prevented the sale of 8,300 litres of diesel fuel and 8,700 litres of gasoline.
They also prevented the sale of 11,700 litres of diesel fuel over established irregularities in documents.
