Deputy chair of Bulgaria’s ABV makes comments on important issues

Rumen Petkov, Deputy Chairperson of the Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV), spoke Sunday for the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) and commented on burning issues.
According to him, the question about what is taking place within the ruling coalition should not be posed to the ABV.
“We are a predictable [and] solid political party involved in politics. We propose and carry out policies,” Petkov stated.
In his words, it is obvious there are serious problems within the Reformist Bloc.
The politician commented the faster they were cleared up, the better for the country.
“I am concerned Bulgarian citizens will pay for this “PR action” of public procurement suspension,” Rumen Petkov went on to say, referring to the recent suspension of public procurements in Bulgaria.
“Borisov [Prime Minister Boyko Borisov] himself said these were absolutely legally followed procedures but there were some doubts. Well, as far as I know, part of the companies affected by the public procurement suspension have already appealed against this at the Commission for Protection of Competition. I am again saying I am concerned we will pay for this “originality”,” the politician remarked.
In his words, it is obvious the Prime Minister does not want Hemus motorway to be built.
“A step over Hemus was not made in the previous mandate. One was taken this mandate; how adequate it was is a different matter,” Petkov noted.
In his view, the suspended public procurements are in fact accusations against ministers.
“The commissions that held the public procurement procedures allowed doubt to be cast. If we establish the practice of throwing doubt about any public procurement, I think foreign investors will leave very fast,” Rumen Petkov opined.
Referring to the doubts about a cartel on the market of fuels in Bulgaria, the politician added the signals over that dated back to 2012.
Rumen Petkov demanded to know why the Commission for Protection of Competition continued its work after its mandate had expired a year ago.
“This commission makes the decision which in essence will be in the hands of the next line-up. I do not think this is very respectable,” Petkov concluded.
