Bulgaria President holds consultations with Bulgarian Democratic Centre

President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev officially launched the traditional Month of Political Consultations with the parliamentary represented political parties on Monday.
The Bulgarian Head of State already met with the leaderships of the Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV) and Ataka parties.
Rosen Plevneliev held a meeting with representatives of the Bulgarian Democratic Centre (BDC) on Wednesday, March 2, the press centre of the President’s Office announced.
The Head of State and BDC representatives Rumen Yonchev, Krasimira Kovachka, and Rosen Petrov were united around the vision building upon the things achieved and growth should be key words in 2016.
The participants in the meeting mainly focused on the implementation of the judicial reform.
The Head of State said this was the year in which work on the judicial reform should continue.
“It is also necessary the principle of random allocation of [court] cases is improved,” Mr Plevneliev remarked, speaking at the meeting.
As regards the proposed anti-corruption legislation, the BDC voiced reserves but also declared their readiness to discuss any new proposals relating to anti-corruption measures.
The BDC also think already working structures should not be undermined.
President Plevneliev proposed a debate is held on the intermediate management of EU fund finances and the BDC voiced their content with the idea and expressed their hope no financial resources would be lost in the future under various programmes.
The BDC members and President also touched upon the migration wave and the strengthening of national border protection.
They were united in their opinion the EU should find a common solution to the crisis.
According to the BDC, migrants should continue being admitted to the country through certain border checkpoints, where they should be registered, in order not to allow a huge influx of migrants into Bulgaria.
The explicit position on the need of increasing the fighting capacity of the Bulgarian army and its financing was presented at the meeting.
The BDC voiced its concern over “the arguments about who will make investments in defence and not what they will be”.
Rosen Plevneliev was explicit the Bulgarian army should be left to calmly build upon its capabilities.
The BDC declared their intention to propose amendments to the Election Code so that the election campaign period of time is extended in the context of the idea to shorten the campaign over the forthcoming presidential elections to 21 days.
The BDC representatives believe the proposed 21 days are not sufficient for an election campaign to be properly conducted.
The BDC also took a stance in favour of a discussion on the municipal healthcare reform.
According to them, there is a shortage of professional cadres and specialised equipment in specialised hospitals.
Rules on salary formation are needed in the healthcare sector as part of the measures to prevent migration among young doctors, the BDC members believe.
They also raised problems the Bulgarian communities abroad are faced with and spoke in favour of more active work with Bulgarians in foreign countries.
The BDC parliamentary group proposed to the Head of State the National Guards’ Unit takes charge of guarding the Monument to Apostle of Freedom Vasil Levski.
