Bulgaria interior minister: We are ready to react even in the hardest situation connected migrant wave

“I think that on the grounds of what we see at the moment, we can develop further our plans and guarantee before the Bulgarian citizens that we are absolutely ready to react even in the hardest situation in terms of illegal border crossing of migrants,” Bulgarian Interior Minister Rumiana Bachvarova said speaking at a briefing after the Border-2016 drill, FOCUS News Agency journalist reported.
“The major purpose of the drill is to see how the forces are dislocated in a real situation, how the tasks are implemented and what is most important – to coordinate the efforts between the army, the national police, the border police and the gendarmerie. This is a new situation at the moment and from now on we should develop skills so as to react in good coordination,” the minister explained.
“What we saw within an hour included several possible situations, including rendering aid, rescuing injured people, so as to guarantee the security of our officers, too,” Ms Bachvarova commented further.
50 military units took part in the drills, including 2 helicopters, special purpose vehicle, San Cat armoured vehicles, gendarmerie, fire truck and ambulance.
