Bulgaria PM: Everyone in Brussels acknowledged that Bulgaria sets standards in Schengen border protection

“Everyone in Brussels acknowledged that Bulgaria sets the standards for the protection of the Schengen border.” This is what Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said after the end of the EU-Turkey summit in Brussels, FOCUS News Agency reporter said.
“The negotiations were hard and continued for many hours. Big part of what we hoped for is a fact now. A compromise was found between the EU member states and Turkey. Many are dissatisfied but this is the best for the moment. There will be some extra EUR 3 billion allocated by 2018, making a total of EUR 6 billion, as some EUR 700 million will go for Turkey from the European Emergency Assistance. We required financial assistance, too because we make great efforts and demonstrate how the Schengen border should be protected. All my colleagues acknowledged that Bulgaria sets the standards for the protection of the Schengen border,” the Bulgarian Prime Minister remarked.
“The relocation programme and the figures remain the same. There were many arguments about the speeding up of the visa issuance,” Mr Borisov commented further.
