Bulgaria President met with CEDB party within Month of Political Consultations

  President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev met Wednesday with representatives of the parliamentary groups of the mandate-holder Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB) as part of the traditional Month of Political Consultations with the parliamentary represented political parties.
The consultations were focused on the priorities of the parliamentary groups for 2016.
President Plevneliev, on the other hand, raised the following issues for discussion:
- Current political situation in the country and perspectives;
- Measures that will be continued in 2016 in connection with the reforms in the fields of justice and internal order; fight against corruption; administrative reform and electronic government; healthcare; education; pension reform; reform in the water sector;
- Other measures within the implementation of the strategic goals and priorities of Bulgaria 2020 National Development Programme and the start of the preparatory works on Bulgaria 2030.
“During the consultations with the President we presented the major accents in the issues outlined for discussion. The major accents outlined by the parliamentary group of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB) and for the government of the CEDB are the reforms in the judicial system, the energy and education sectors and the realisation of what has been set under the Pre-School and School Education, the business-education tie and the implementation of sub-delegated legislative acts connected with the standards that should be adopted by the Council of Ministers,” said Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Chairperson of the parliamentary group of the mandate-holder CEDB, speaking with journalists after the meeting.
In Tsvetanov’s words, the energy diversification is one of the most important steps towards the energy independence of the country.
“We acknowledged the positive effect of the Energy Act adopted in 2015 because now the National Electricity Company (NEK) starts reporting profit, which means that there is higher security in the energy sector,” the politician commented further.
Mr Tsvetanov also commented on the state energy efficiency programme, saying it should be continued.
“More than 2,000 contracts have been signed with the owners of multi-family residential buildings and this is a policy that reaches the Bulgarian citizens directly and cuts their energy expenses,” Tsvetan Tsvetanov said.
“We give a high evaluation on the work of the President and we are convinced that he will make the respective messages at parliament few days ago when he presents a report on the talks held within the political consultations,” said Tsvetan Tsvetanov.
“We should acknowledge president’s merits around everything that happened over the past years,” Mr Tsvetanov added, recalling the snap elections and the appointment of interim governments.
“Because of the refugee flow at the Greek-Macedonian border, there are preconditions for an epidemic and infectious diseases, which may pose a possible health risk for Bulgaria,” he said.
“During the consultations with the President we discussed the refugee influx in Europe, too, and apart from the measures taken on behalf of the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Defence in dialogue with the local power, we raised one highly important issue – the possible health risk for Bulgaria because of the refugee flow, because what we see at the Greek-Macedonia are preconditions for epidemic and infectious diseases, which have been forgotten for years,” Tsvetan Tsvetanov commented further.
The politician added that there was a need to improve the coordination with the Ministry of Health.
