Serbia’s decision to close borders does not change situation in Bulgaria: interior minister

“The fact that Serbia decided to close its borders for refugees does not change the situation in Bulgaria,” Bulgarian Interior Minister Rumiana Bachvarova said speaking for the Bulgarian National Television (BNT).
In her words, the European decision to stop the illegal entrance is a strong signal to the refugees. She assured that the Bulgarian authorities were taking all necessary measures and the readiness to resist attempts or illegal and organised entrances of migrants on the territory of our country had been enhanced.
“Serbia closed its border tonight but this does not change the situation in Bulgaria because our country has been foiling the attempts of illegal migrants’ entrance and has been detaining illegal migrants every day,” Ms Bachvarova added.
In her words, the pressure coming from Greece is huge but the European decision to stop the illegal entrance of migrants will be a strong signal to those planning such moves.
