Bulgaria PM met with Austria interior, defence ministers

 Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov met with Austrian Federal Minister of the Interior Johanna Mikl-Leitner and Minister of Defence and Sports Hans Peter Doskozil, who were on an official visit to Bulgaria on Saturday. The meeting was held at the Council of Minister’s office in the Bulgarian capital city Sofia.
“As an external EU border Bulgaria makes great efforts and strictly applies all regulations of the European and Schengen legislation to handle the migration pressure,” Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said at the meeting. 
In his words, it is important for all countries on the frontline to be able to count on EU support in the protection of its external borders.
Mr Borisov remarked that with regard to the measures against the migrant flow under the national action plan Bulgaria had informed the European Commission (EC) about the needs and additional necessities of our country.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister added that Bulgaria would appreciate highly support from Austria. 
Boyko Borisov commented further that no new tendencies were noticed in connection with the migrant flow at the moment, and pointed out that Bulgaria was getting prepared for timely actions, if necessary.
“We have taken all necessary measures and the readiness at the border has been enhanced, both in terms of resource and organisation, against the illegal and organised entrance of migrants. We adopted legislative opportunity for the army to join the extraordinary measures at the border in case of mass migration pressure,” PM Borisov said further. 
During the talks the Bulgarian Prime Minister grounded Bulgaria’s position expressed in a letter sent to European Council President Donald Tusk. Mr Borisov added that he expected that country’s position would be taken into account during the preparatory works for the upcoming EU summit.
Later on during the day Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister for Coalition Policy and Public Administration and Minister of Interior Rumiana Bachvarova and Minister of Defence Nikolay Nenchev and the Austrian officials visited the Regional Border Police Directorate-Elhovo, where the Bulgarian ministers introduced their Austrian counterparts to the actions taken by Bulgaria for the protection of the Bulgarian-Turkish border.
