Mr Kalfin recalled that Bulgaria was a party in many international agreements aiming at protection of the rights of the people with disabilities, including the recommendation of the Committee of Ministers, which is connected with the realisation of a concrete action plan on assistance of the rights and equal participation in the society of people with disabilities and improvement of their quality of life Disability Action Plan 2006-2015 (2006-2015).
“We are open for intensive cooperation with the Council of Europe for the implementation of the plan in the next period – 2017-2021, too,” the Bulgarian Deputy PM remarked.
“Cooperation between the institutions and the NGOs is highly important for the realisation of successful policies about the people with disabilities,” Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policies Lazar Lazarov said speaking in his address to the guests at the opening of an international conference with the participation of experts from 12 countries dedicated to the equal rights of the people with disabilities, the press office of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy announced.
Speaking of the most important strategic goals before the state, Deputy Minister Lazarov listed the coordination of all sectoral policies, the establishment of accessible environment and change of the public feelings and approach.
“Our goal is to use the good practices to establish sustainable policies,” said Mincho Koralski, executive director of the Agency for People with Disabilities.
He stressed that there was a need to improve the coordination between the interested parties because, according to him, this is the instrument for the implementation of efficient policies addressed to the people with disabilities.
