Signing of memorandum with Reformist Bloc not matter of present interest for Bulgaria’s CEDB anymore: deputy chair

Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Deputy Chairperson of mandate-holder Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB) and Chairperson of the CEDB parliamentary group, spoke for Kanal 3 on Sunday.
According to him, the government was formed by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, who was led by national interests.
The Reformist Bloc said they would stick to the memorandum signed by PM Borisov and leader of the Bulgaria for Citizens Movement Meglena Kuneva as well as by Reformist Bloc lawmakers who voiced their support.
Whether the Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB) will remain part of the Reformist Bloc is a commitment and right of all political parties taking part in the Reformist Bloc’s formation, Tsvetanov opined.
PM Borisov asaid he backed current Minister of Health Petar Moskov and Minister of Defence Nikolay Nenchev.
Checks will launched on the information the CEDB parliamentary group provided to PM Borisov and it will be then seen if there are any people sabotaging the government and taking part in corruption schemes.
According to Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Boyko Borisov took on this commitment and he is a person that honours his promises.
The CEDB deputy chair commented the meeting between the CEDB parliamentary group, PM Borisov, and government ministers had been highly productive and had led to more unity in the parliamentary group.
Difficult political consultations were held over the formation of the cabinet with all parliamentary groups and they were even attended by President of the European People's Party (EPP) Joseph Daul. A coalitional agreement was inked between the Reformist Bloc and the CEDB and a declaration, which is part of government, was adopted, Tsvetanov recalled.
At present, the CEDB sticks to this formula and the sector policies that need to be reformed. The fact some Reformist Bloc members betrayed their voters and chose to look after their own interests is their own right, the CEDB parliamentary group chair commented.
Tsvetanov is convinced the government is stable and guarantees the needed stability in today’s tense times, when Europe faces threats.
The main parameters of the coalitional agreement signed at the beginning of the mandate continue to be met now.
The Reformist Bloc asked for more specifics as regards the commitments to be honoured in 2016 and this is the reason why the political consultations ended with the drawing up of a document that did not collect the signatures of Reformist Bloc members but was signed by PM Borisov and Meglena Kuneva.
The topic of this memorandum is not a matter of present interest for the CEDB anymore. What matters for them is their continuing to follow the steps planned in government.

FOCUS News Agency recalls:
Bulgarian parliament passed at second reading a draft bill on amendments and supplements to the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria. According to the document, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) will be split into two collegia – one of judges and another one of prosecutors.
After the collegium quotas were thus passed, Minister of Justice Hristo Ivanov handed in his resignation. According to him, there was a “symbolic step to the doubt” more and more could be spoken in Bulgaria of the “supremacy” of the Prosecutor General. Prime Minister Boyko Borisov accepted Ivanov’s resignation.
After the constitutional amendments were adopted, Radan Kanev, Co-chairperson of the parliamentary group of the Reformist Bloc coalition and leader of the Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party, said he was cutting off his support for the government.
The Reformist Bloc held a meeting on Tuesday, December 15, at which it transpired the coalition would remain in power without the DSB, which stuck to its decision to be in opposition. The DSB, however remained in the Reformist Bloc coalition.
