Plovdiv Airport will launch a third, extra flight to London every Friday in August at 21.30 hrs. The reason is increased interest in the destination due to the Olympic Games. The flight will be operated by low-cost airline Ryanair, said Executive Director of Plovdiv Airport Doychin Angelov.

The other two flights to London will operate on schedule, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Angelov predicted that passenger traffic at Plovdiv Airport will reach a record-high of 100,000 people in 2012.

Angelov added that the negotiations on launching flights to Istanbul are in their final phase. According to him, there will be a meeting in Istanbul this week, which will be attended by two travel companies as well. They are expected to take over 50% of the seats and thus ensure constant flow of traffic. It is expected for the destination to be serviced twice a week.
