Minister Dobrev: The investment climate in Bulgaria is one of the most favourable

“The investment climate in Bulgaria is one of the most favourable at the moment,” said Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Delian Dobrev during a meeting with foreign journalists from Financial Times, Prospect, Kommersant, Wiener Zeitung, Money Channel, Il Sole 24, ANSA, Express, APA and others. He presented Bulgaria’s advantages as an investment and tourist destination. The representatives of foreign media are on a visit to our country at the invitation of InvestBulgaria Agency.

“The Bulgarian Government maintains the lowest tax rates in the European Union – a 10% corporate tax and a 5% tax on dividends,” Minister Dobrev told journalists. According to him, the country attracts foreign investors thanks to its financial stability, low tax rates and measures for the promotion of investment activity. “Every certified investor is offered a personal assistant to help the communication with the public administrations. This also reduces by half the term for issuing various permits,” explained Dobrev.

“The tourist industry generates 12% of the country’s GDP,” said Dobrev. The beautiful nature, the famous winter resorts where European and world competitions are organised and the rich cultural heritage are the main factors to attract an increasing number of tourists. Our country has more than 4,000 cultural monuments, 38 culture reserves, 160 monasteries and nine sites under the aegis of UNESCO. Bulgaria has also received an award for an undisclosed golf destination of 2012,” pointed out Dobrev.
