PM Borissov: The Prosecution Office to check VMZ-Sopot

The Prosecution Office will check VMZ-Sopot because of a signal by leader of the Podkrepa Labour Confederation Dr. Konstantin Trenchev, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said at a meeting with officials of the arms factory in Sopot, which was also attended by Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Delian Dobrev. The Prime Minister said that, earlier on Monday, he ordered an additional internal inspection of the plant, in order to clarify who are those, if any, who should be blamed directly for the dire economic situation of the company. He expressed dissatisfaction with the management of the factory's current CEO, Ivan Stoenchev, but stressed that he would be given another chance, since, at present, there is no better option for his replacement. Borissov explained that, in recent years, entire installations and machines have been taken out of the arms factory under the pretext that these were taken to be repaired. Actually, in this way the plant was robbed. Therefore, everybody who has lied and robbed should be taken to prison," Borissov was adamant. Regarding future lay-offs of part of VMZ-Sopot's employees, the Prime Minister promised that, regardless how many these may be, the Government will take care of finding a job to everyone who will be made redundant at the factory.
