President Rosen Plevneliev: terrorism cannot be defeated with weapons

In an interview for the German Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev said that the ideology of terrorism cannot be defeated with weapons and that the fight against radical Islam could only succeed in a union with the Islamic world and the Islamic communities in Europe. The reaction to terrorist acts should be solidarity and unity in Europe, and any division by religious, ethnic or other principles should be avoided at any cost, the Bulgarian head of state said. If the generation that brought the Berlin Wall down starts building new walls, this will jeopardize the dream of a united, peaceful and democratic Europe. Our weapon is integration, not isolation. The reaction to terrorist attacks should be more, not less Europe, President Plevneliev said in his interview.
