Bulgaria to take part in European Border Guard

 The Committee on Justice and Home Affairs of the European Parliament approved a legislative amendment, which guarantees Bulgaria’s participation in the new European Border and Coast Guard, even though this country is not part of the Schengen area. The amendment guarantees that in case of a strong migration pressure the other member countries of the European Border and Coast Guard will have the obligation to provide the necessary technical support and help in terms of additional experts. The activities of the Guard will include not only measures for coping with the migration crisis, but also protection of the Union’s outer borders from threats like trans-border crime and terrorism.
