Sasho Donchev heads BIA

Overgas Inc. Executive Director Sasho Dontchev is the new Managing Board Chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA), inside sources announced yesterday. Dontchev will succeed the outgoing Chairman Bojidar Danev who will be Executive President of BIA. Henceforth, Danev will head of BIA’s administrative team and will coordinate its relations with government institutions, social partners and NGOs.

Meanwhile, Energy Minister Traicho Traikov has agreed with Danev’s proposal to stop the cross-subsidising of electricity prices by industrial consumers for households. The liberalisation of the Bulgarian energy market was discussed at BIA’s meeting yesterday. Traikov added that the outdated gas distribution network will be audited and upgraded. “Practically, no investment in the network has been made,” said Danev. Businesses and the Government have agreed to set up a panel of experts which should propose specific legislative amendments aimed at resolving the problems in the energy sector.
