Social Minister: We will raise the pensions in 2013

“All pensions will be raised next year but I cannot say when this will be done. The Finance Ministry and the National Social Security Institute should prepare their analyses first,” Minister of Labour and Social Policy Totyu Mladenov said in Burgas on Monday. Mladenov appealed for a little more patience in connection with the calculations for the projected increase of pensions next year.

By the end of this month, a meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation will be held where all the parameters will be discussed. Mladenov specified that the increase will compensate for the inflation accumulated over the last three years.

The Social Minister reminded that the minimum monthly wage will be increased as of January 2013 from BGN 290 to BGN 310. “I would like to point out that in 2005-2009, the ruling tripartite coalition from the previous government raised the minimum monthly wage with a total of BGN 80 and the inflation for the period was triple that for 2009-2013. A little patience and at the end of September, we will have the parameters of the public and the State social security budget and the budget of the State,” added Mladenov.
