It is official: Friday is a day of mourning for the death of Patriarch Maxim

Friday will be a day of mourning for the death of Bulgarian Patriarch and Sofia Metropolitan Maxim. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday. Maxim died early in the morning on November 6, at the age of 98. The funeral will be held on Friday, November 9, at the Troyan Monastery “Holy Mother's Assumption” at 3.30 p.m.

The meeting of the National Assembly on Wednesday also began with a minute of silence in memory of the late Patriarch.

Russian Patriarch Kiril sent his condolences to the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in connection with the death of Patriarch Maxim, Patriarhiya.ru reported.

The Russian Patriarch expressed his deep and heartfelt condolences in relation to the death of Maxim.
