Some €233 mln agreed under a cross-border programme with Romania

”Contracts for €233 mln have been signed under the programme for cross-border cooperation between Bulgaria and Romania for the 2007-2013 period,” Nikolay Nankov, Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, said on Wednesday after the ninth meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee of the Programme, held in the Romanian town of Calarasi, bTV reported.

Nankov added that €197 mln of the money under a total of 126 agreements have been secured by the European Regional Development Fund and the agreed funds account for 91.31% of the programme’s budget.

Several future strategies were adopted during the meeting, aimed at the maximum absorption of the financial resources. A working group will be set up. At the meeting, it was agreed to analyse the opportunities and alternatives for building a third bridge over the Danube.
