Dramatic change in fuel prices not expected

We do not expect a sudden change in fuel prices because of the repeal of the imposed moratorium on the increase of gas and diesel prices, said Andrey Delchev, Chairman of the Bulgarian Petroleum and Gas Association, quoted by Focus Agency. The duration of the announced ban expires today.

The moratorium on fuel prices was imposed only on Lukoil products, while the rest of the companies continued to sell in compliance with their corporate policy, explained Delchev. "Nevertheless, prices are similar which implies that there will not be any dramatic price differences soon," indicated he.

The price increase could result from the global upward trend in oil prices. The price hike, however, will not be BGN 0.15 - 0.20 per litre, stated Delchev. I think the pace of fuel price increases should be mitigated, little by little, emphasised Delchev. According to him, Lukoil will register some losses as a result of the effect of the one-month moratorium but it will not be serious. The imposed moratorium showed that there is no cartel in the industry, reckoned he.

On April 28, branch organisations will not participate in the protest against fuel prices staged by the "Force'' civil movement, announced Koycho Roussev, Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Road Transport Organisations (ARTO) and National Transport Chamber, as well as Management Board member of AEBTRI (Association of Bulgarian Enterprises for International Road Transport and Roads).
