Bulgarian businesses - the most optimistic in Europe

Representatives of Bulgarian businesses are the most optimistic among their EU colleagues in their expectations for the economy next year, showed a survey of Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) presented today. It is part of the traditional survey of the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Eurochambres). The conclusions about Bulgaria were based on nearly 600 companies, whose responses placed our country in the leading position in terms of optimism.

Some 57.2% of the respondents said they expected an improvement in the business climate next year. This answer ranked our country first in this respect. Behind us are Sweden, Turkey, Romania and Malta. However, entrepreneurs in Bulgaria, like most European managers, expressed reservations as to their expectations for an increase in the employment rate and investments in 2012.

However, BCCI’s experience in this survey has shown that optimistic expectations are being realised but not for all companies. “Entrepreneurs remain largely optimistic in general, hoping to implement their business ideas in a transparent environment and fair business conditions,” said BCCI’s President Tsvetan Simeonov.

According to the survey, nearly 60% of the companies said they expected growth in the proceeds from sales abroad next year. Less than 30% believe that proceeds will remain the same as this year and 13% of the respondents expect a decrease.
