Former MPs from the Ataka party accuse Siderov of greed

''Volen Siderov is obsessed by a single idea – the greed for money. He is constantly talking about where the money is transferred and how GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) and its MPs are depriving his party from the subsidies intended for it,'' reckoned yesterday before Nova TV, the independent MP Borislav Stoyanov - one of the four lawmakers who left a day earlier the parliamentarian group (PG) of Ataka party. Stoyanov added that Siderov owes an explanation on the unclear spending of the state subsidy for the party since he was the only one aware of these financial machinations Another party separatist - Kiril Gumnerov confirmed that the entire subsidy worth nearly BGN 14 mln, received over the years was already utterly spent.

In fact, the MEP Dimitar Stoyanov, who is also Volen Siderov's stepson and who was expelled from the Ataka party, also expressed his indignation at the party's Congress held on Wednesday. "When Ataka was first formed, it hardly received any subsidies, but it had no problems pursuing its goals and winning high election results," stated before bTV, Dimitar Stoyanov. According to him, the current situation was very indecent. The MEP reminded that the law on the transfer of subsidies from one party to another was written and submitted to Parliament by Pavel Shopov, who was the vice presidential candidate of Siderov at the former presidential election.

When Siderov supported GERB and Boyko Borissov, he received each month an envelope with BGN 100,000, disclosed yesterday to the Focus Agency Valeri Simeonov, owner of SKAT TV and one of the founders of Ataka party, referring to lawmakers in Parliament. Simeonov pointed out that after each new renegade MP leaving the Ataka party, Volen Siderov complained only about how much money he would lose from the party's subsidy.

The Ataka leader also commented yesterday on the last four separatists leaving the Ataka PG. According to Volen Siderov, GERB was stealing MPs from Ataka to secure itself votes in Parliament as well as to penalise its leader over the criticisms delivered by him to the GERB government. ''This is a "punitive operation" as well as a serious financial blow against Ataka party,'' reckoned Siderov.
