Boyko Borissov: Opponents attack me because I am the most powerful political figure

"Why do all politicians want to attack me and enter into debates with me? It is because I am the most powerful political figure at the moment. This is the reason why Stanishev, Volen Siderov and all other political leaders would like to participate in open debates with me," commented Prime Minister and leader of the GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party) party Boyko Borissov in an interview for bTV yesterday. He gave it at the home of his sister Krassimira, where Borissov was invited to a Christmas dinner. According to the Prime Minister, Ahmed Dogan is the most serious MP at the moment. He relies on the secure electorate of 500-600,000 votes, which is sufficient to make him an irreplacebale political factor in Bulgaria. "Therefore, he is not willing to debate with me," clarified the Prime Minister.

Borissov shared that even on the football field, his team-mates kicked him most of all other players: "First, they think that will hurt me badly and afterwards they are bragging that they have kicked me," explained the cunning tactics of his opponents the PM. He also said that he did not rely on people outside the GERB government to consult him for anything and sought advice only from European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.

Boyko Borissov highlighted on bTV air that he had fulfilled his dream to be promoted to the rank of general, while his current wish was for "the Southern Arc of the Sofia Ring Road to be completed by June and the Sofia residents to travel along the new metro lines. In parallel, he wished that he could manage to modernise the theaters of the towns of Pernik, Burgas, Ruse, as well as to upgrade the Opera of Stara Zagora and the Bulgarian Philharmonic Orchestra. "

Asked whether he missed children, the Prime Minister said that the completion of the highways’ construction was more important than his fatherly emotions because he knew that when the motorways were ready they could be used by the young Bulgarian generations.

"Usually, I spend half an hour a day playing football, while all the remaining time I am dedicated to my work. All external things consume my energy, power and distract me. Ultimately, there is always time for everyday life," indicated Borissov.
