Georgi Parvanov: Working with Borissov was very difficult

”Wprking with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov was very difficult", said President Georgi Parvanov on TV7 yesterday.

Parvanov added that during his two terms of office he tried to work with every Government, every Prime Minister, doing his best according to all democratic principles. The President said that he had a very good dialogue with Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and Sergey Stanishev. He clearly stated that his arguments with Borissov had nothing to do with a future rivalry between them for the Prime Minister's post.

"I will try to find my new place in politics. My new activity will not be related to organisational tasks alone but to the generating of ideas, such as enabling the consolidation of various political parties," Parvanov said. According to him, the parties had never been as isolated as during the last elections, and even afterwards. Parvanov believes that „with so many parties in Bulgaria there are no efforts for consolidation, and the civil society remains isolated."

On Sunday, the newly-elected President Rossen Plevneliev announced for BNR that his primary task was the alliance of the political leaders and parties around a cause envisaging "until 2020 Bulgaria to become comparable to the Central European countries” – an idea similar to the statement of Parvanov.

”In the recent year, year and a half, the composition of the executive power is clear and it has its Prime Minister,” said Georgi Parvanov yesterday in response to a question whether early elections are possible. The President added that those who wanted to consider this possibility must first create conditions for the winning of the next parliamentary elections.
