Krassimir Koev: Some 30% of the vineyards are insured

About 30% of vineyards are insured, said Krasimir Koev, Director of the Executive Agency on Vine and Wine for the Bulgaria On Air television. He expects insurance policies to increase because of the unfavourable weather phenomena such as cold spells or prolonged droughts. Koev said that a slight stir up had been noted both on the domestic market and with respect to exports. Bulgaria is against the liberalisation of vineyards, a policy which is being discussed in relation to the new programming period of the EU agricultural policy. At present, our country receives a total of €112.6 mln in European subsidies, which will be cancelled if liberalisation is introduced.
