ECOPACK recycles over 68,000 tonnes of waste packages in 2011

For the eighth consecutive year, the company for separate collection of recyclable waste ECOPACK Bulgaria JSC recycled 68,496 tonnes of waste packages, or 4,900 tonnes more than the amount stipulated by law, reported the company. Thus, ECOPACK strengthened its leading position with a 43.4% market share among the organisations for the separate collection of waste packages in Bulgaria.

The Minister of Environment and Water Nona Karadjova signed an order for approving the activities of the company, as well as the implementation of its objectives for 2011. Last year, ECOPACK users declared 127,228 tonnes of waste packages, or 8% compared to 2010. A total of 33,69 tonnes of paper were delivered for recycling, as well as 18,118 tonnes of glass and 9,558 tonnes of plastic, along with 3,202 tonnes of metal and 3,876 tonnes of timber. The total recycled quantity represents 53,84% of the declared quantities of packages under the legally stipulated rate of 50%.

Last year, the new module of the glass processing installation entered into operation in the village of Ravno Pole for the separation of stones, porcelain and ceramics from the core glass.

The achieved purity of the glass reaches 99.7%. In this way, the maximum purchase price and the proceeds from the sale of glass increased by nearly 30%, read the announcement.
