Four Arrested, 22 Kg of Heroin Seized in Operation against Drug Ring

An organized crime group involved in the drugs distribution business was
broken up in an operation of anti-mafia officers in Haskovo, Plovdiv,
Kurdjali and Sofia, the Haskovo prosecution office and police
told the press here Monday. Four people were arrested and 22 kg
of heroin were seized.

The operation has been underway for about a month before the
arrests. First police seized 3.3 kg of heroin in the southern
town of Purvomay on April 3. Another 18.6 kg were found later
the same day in a farm building in the village of Zhenda near
Kurdjali.

Three of the detainees have a police record for prior offences
and two had been sentenced for drug trafficking and served time.
Three of the detainees are residents of Haskovo and one of
Sofia.
