Bulgaria negotiates economic cooperation with South Korea

For Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea (South Korea, editor's note) the practical cooperation in mutually beneficial economic relations is of prime importance. This is the conclusion from the official meeting in Sofia of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and his Korean counterpart, Kim Hwang-Sik.

Among the joint projects, Kim Hwang-Sik highlighted those related to the development of renewable energy sources, infrastructure, e-government, as well as agriculture and small and medium-sized enterprises, as projects of particular interest to his country.

"Bulgaria is important for Korea as a member of NATO and the EU along with its position at the center of the Black Sea region," stated the Korean Prime Minister. He invited Boyko Borissov to visit Seol where they could develop further the relations between the two countries. Bulgaria is very stable economically and politically and has great potential for the future, stated also the Korean guest.

Yesterday, Borissov and Kim Hwang-Sik signed an intergovernmental agreement on the mutual recognition of the driving licenses, issued in Bulgaria and Korea. With this step, both PMs hope to encourage and facilitate the movement of people and business relations between both countries.

At the meeting with the Korean guest, the favorable tax and investment climate in Bulgaria was also discussed. The accelerated absorption of EU funds immediately triggered interest towards our infrastructure projects, indicated PM Borissov. The Bulgarian Prime Minister commented on Bulgaria's efforts to develop cultural tourism and reminded that in October the Thracian gold treasure would be exhibited at the European Parliament.
