Borissov's wish for the New Year: The Bulgarian e-government to become operative

The Bulgarian e-government to become operative at full speedin 2012: this was Boyko Borissov's wish for the New Year expressed in an interview with the Bulgarian National Television in the first minutes of 2012. Borissov celebrated New Year's Eve at No 1, Dondukov Blvd. for the first time since he is heading the GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) government. He shared the festivities with two adolescents from the orphanage St. Nicholay Mirakliyski in Blagoevgrad: Stoyan Karamanov and Shaban Nadkov. Stoyan ss a five-time national boxing champion, while Shaban has won this title three times. Their trainer is the Orthodox priest Andon Shavulev.

Borissov was explicit that despite the crisis expected in the new year, the railway lines Sofia-Svilengrad and Plovdiv-Burgas would be completed as well as the construction of the Trakia motorway, thus enabling the traffic of vehicles along the Danube Bridge 2.

The Prime Minister also emphasised that the most important point remains the maintenance of the financial and economic stability. Borissov expressed the opinion that Bulgarians would tackle the economic difficulties if they are "persistent and show patience." He warned that the Bulgarian people must save a total of BGN 3 bn in order to "to cover the debts worth BGN 1 bn'' on the NPP Belene construction as well as the Bulgarian default on the purchase of Siemens trains and Water Mirror dam facility. Bulgaria must also disburse the Eurobonds issued by the former finance minister, Milen Velchev.
