Some 63 companies interested in providing e-services to municipalities

“The tender procedure for the supply of broadband electronic services for municipalities was opened today and a total of 63 companies have submitted applications,” said Deputy Minister of Transport Valery Borissov at a luncheon organised by the American Chamber of Commerce yesterday.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who once again reminded that the introduction of e-government is among the priorities of the Government. According to him, the electronic census has shown that Bulgarians prefer to use electronic services. “I have empowered Deputy Minister of Transport Borissov to coordinate the activities of all ministers on the e-government issue. The network is expanding and, gradually, more and more ministries and agencies are included. Our ambition is, by the end of the year, for a huge amount of correspondence to be processed electronically, which will help both ordinary citizens and business representatives. We are expected to make our economy more efficient, more modern and more profitable. We want to stop the practice of outflow of gross domestic product, and the most precious investors for us are those who create new jobs and produce goods for export,” said the Prime Minister further.

“In 2011, the Government invested twice as much in the advertising campaign of Bulgarian tourism and in 2012 the investment will once again be doubled,” said Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Traicho Traikov. We have invested a total of BGN 150 mln in cultural and historical sites. We have to develop sectors with higher added value. Agriculture is doing well but we should not focus on projects that require co-financing, but on those that are competitive.
