Bulgaria Air buys 4 Embraer-190 aircrafts

“Bulgaria Air will put into operation four new aircrafts Embraer-190 (E-190),” said Executive Director of the national carrier, Yanko Georgiev, cited by Investor.bg. Currently the airline operates 22 aircrafts to a total of 28 travel destinations. It is envisaged that the total number of the E-190 aircrafts would reach 9 in 2014. The first E-190 aircraft will arrive in Bulgaria in early March, and the other 3 - by the end of the year. They will be purchased through financial leasing. The planes are for 108 passengers, including 8 seats in business class and will fly to most of the airline’s travel destinations.

Brazilian Embraer-190 is a new generation airplane – its engines are General Electric and the aircraft is more economical in terms of consumption of kerosene. It will provide more competitive opportunities for the airline, given the increasingly stringent emission limits imposed by the European Commission.

“With the new machines, the company will increase the weekly frequency of its flights to most European destinations and will restore its flights to Prague,” said Captain Yanko Georgiev. According to him, an increase in the number of passengers on the regular and the charter lines is expected with about 5%, compared to 2011, regardless of the crisis.
