Plevneliev: I am not afraid of mistakes, but of formalism

I am  not afraid of being active and making mistakes. I am afraid solely of allowing formalism in the actions of the presidential institution, stated yesterday the Head of State at the press conference in the State Emblem Hall of the Presidency. There, he marked the first hundred days from his inauguration. The event was attended by Vice President Margarita Popova, as well as by all newly appointed advisers and secretaries.

According to Rosen Plevneliev, efficient institutions are fundamental for the success of our country, which at the moment is a big problem for Bulgaria.

The President, who took office on January 22 this year from his predecessor, Georgi Parvanov, stated that the presidential institution has already drafted a new type of policy, which excludes the evasion of responsibility. Plevneliev praised himself that he had already started to open the Presidency for the citizens, who should recognise the institution as their entity. I promised to appoint many young people in the presidential administration, which is already a fact, stated also the President.

The Head of State is quite satisfied with the March consultations with the political parties, represented in Parliament, as well as with the first Consultative National Security Council in April. The set strategic priorities will be the basis of the plan "Bulgaria 2020". These include the transport and energy sectors, as well as energy efficiency, balanced regional development and competitiveness.

When asked how he intended to influence the executive power if it failed to fulfill the undertaken commitments, Plevneliev answered that he would control the institutions. He, however, failed to make any further explanations.

Ultimately, the President defined himself as a "technocrat" and "fair politician" who would act as non-partisan entity and will not participate in any political battles.
