Institute for Analysis and Assessment of Tourism: The summer season will be strong

The number of tourists in the first six months of the year has declined, showed data of the Institute for Analysis and Assessment of Tourism. The summer months, however, are expected to be strong, despite the terrorist attack in Burgas, stated branch representatives. The data showed a decline of 4.1% in the number of tourists until the end of June, but the forecast for July, August and September is for an increase in the number of tourists. These are traditionally the strongest months, with expected growth of 4%.

The data also showed that the highest increase in the number of tourists, compared to last year, is expected with respect to holiday makers from Russia, Germany, Slovakia, Poland and Romania. However, a drastic decline is expected in the number of tourists from Greece.

"The terrorist attack will not affect the number of tourists. We might lose 5,000 - 10,000 tourists but, compared to the expected inflow of a million and a half tourists, this is not a serious drop," reckoned Rumyan Draganov from the Institute for Analysis and Assessment of Tourism, quoted by bTV.
