Interior Ministry syndicate insists on a 25% wage increase

The Trade Union Federation of the Ministry of Interior demanded an increase of the basic pay of its employees by at least 25% no later than January 1, 2013, said an announcement of the syndicate, circulated in the mass media. Among the other demands of police officers are urgent legislative amendments, particularly such connected to the “physical inviolability” of policemen and reforms at the Ministry that should take effect as of January 2013.
Negotiations on these demands have been scheduled for August 22 between the trade union and the leadership of the Ministry.

If the results of these negotiations do not satisfy the syndicate, the police will stage protests, warned the trade union.

The main reason for this ultimatum is that legislative amendments have been promised over the last three years and are still being discussed.

The Interior Ministry’s syndicate stated that they do not have the time and willingness to engage in negotiations for another six months, because it is imperative that their demands are taken into consideration in the budget of the Ministry of Interior for 2013.

The main motives of the trade unionists for the requested wage increase are that the inflation processes should be compensated, as wells as the lack of a real wage increase, bonuses or additional incentives in recent years.
