Iliana Yotova: We will submit a signal to OLAF for abuse of EU funds

“We have prepared a signal to the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) in connection with allegations of abuse of EU funds by former employees of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Iliana Yotova, MEP from the Party of European Socialists (PES), told Focus news agency on Sunday. “All the documents will be submitted on Monday,” she added.

Yotova specified that this will not be the first time that OLAF will inspect the Bulgarian Agriculture Ministry and the State Fund Agriculture. The latter holds a record for the signals against it submitted to OLAF.

Yotova appealed to “all victims of the policies of the Agriculture Ministry with regard to the utilisation of EU funds to send their signals to OLAF. There is a special form for the purpose on the website of the institution”.

According to Yotova, there is no other way to deal with the problem because “neither the Government will take steps in this direction, nor will the Bulgarian judicial system, which has became notorious for its sluggishness”.
