/CROSS/ On the eve of the "11 Years after September 11: Lessons for 11 Years Ahead" conference, organised by the International Institute for Security and Cooperation (IISC) and the Atlantic Club in Bulgaria, CROSS Information Agency contacted one of the leading Israeli counter-terrorism experts, Dr. Ely Karmon. The expert shares his point of view on the Burgas terror attack, al-Qaeda's global structures, Iran's and Hezbollah's activities and the possible presence of terrorist cells in Bulgaria. CROSS Agency: Mr. Karmon, you are a leading Israeli counter-terrorism expert, you have given interviews and have commented on a great number of cases, including the latest version of Yasser Arafat's death. What brings you to Bulgaria? Dr. Ely Karmon: I was invited to represent the International Institute for Security and Cooperation and I am greatly honoured to be member of a leading Bulgarian institution. It is odd in a sense, because we established our contacts eight months ago, and all of a sudden the events in Burgas happened in July indicating that the participation of an Israeli scholar in the cooperation between the two countries is necessary. CROSS Agency: The situation in the Arab world is deteriorating. Did the assassination of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya send a signal to America, warning "Don't interfere in our affairs?"
