Kuneva wants a new Constitution as well

The leader of the new party Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement (BCM) Meglena Kuneva demanded a new Constitution. According to a report released by her press office, BCM is developing a party programme consisting of three pillars.

The application for this comes from Kuneva herself and it was announced at the second meeting of the party held on Sunday at Rainbow Plaza Hall, Sofia.

The first pillar of the programme will be the "civil" one. It needs to ensure the empowerment of people via the introduction of mechanisms for control over power, the removal of obstacles for the conducting of local referendums and steps towards the adoption of a new Constitution, Meglena Kuneva explained. A new basic law has been demanded for years by Yane Yanev's party Order, Law and Justice.

The second pillar of BCM will focus on the economy which needs growth, not stability.

The third pillar is entitled "Bulgaria's future" and provides for a radical reform of the judicial system. This includes the removal of the prosecution from this system, the direct election of the members of the Supreme Judicial Council and the abolition of the Council's parliamentary quota.

BCM will work towards winning the upcoming parliamentary elections, Meglena Kuneva said in her speech. According to her, the possibility of a coalition with GERB, BSP and the MRF after the elections is non-existent. "We are facing this party cartel and under no circumstances will we participate in a coalition government with them," promised the former EU commissioner.
