A 12% raise in starting remuneration for some teachers only

Only the starting remuneration of junior, senior and master teachers will be increased by 12% next year, Education Minister Sergei Ignatov said on Thursday in Plovdiv.

He explained that the rest will receive up to a 7% increase, consistent with the increase in expenditures per pupil.

The Minister also said that no Christmas bonuses are foreseen in his Ministry. These will not be given in schools either because of their delegated budgets.

Turkey will terminate the procedure of non-recognition of Bulgarian diplomas, the Education Minister announced. The information was confirmed by Turkey's Council for Higher Education. An agreement is to be reached between the two countries, so that, hereinafter, similar problems can be solved at a personal rather than at an institutional level, Ignatov explained.

Minister Sergei Ignatov attended the graduation ceremony of 835 students at the Agricultural University in Plovdiv.
