Nickolay Mladenov: Bulgaria was never under any pressure over the Sarafovo bombing investigation

"No one pressured Bulgaria into coming out with an official statement following its investigation into the bus bombing at Sarafovo Airport," Nickolay Mladenov, Minister of Foreign Affairs told BNT on Wednesday. He was adamant that the country would have never claimed that the bombing could be traced back to the Hezbollah militant group if it didn't have sufficient evidence pointing in that direction.

Asked to clarify the phrase "reasonable conclusion" the Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov used in his announcement earlier, Mladenov said that, at this point of the investigation, there is sufficient evidence to support of the theory that the terrorist attack was organized and inspired by people in the Hezbollah militant group. "First, the world should know that no attack against Europe or the European Union will be left unpunished. Second, we will work together with the authorities in Lebanon and all are allies to get to the bottom of this. Third, there will be coordinated steps and actions at a European level," Mladenov added.
