Annexes to beach lease agreements to be signed

Annexes have been prepared to all beach lease agreements signed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW), the Regional Office announced on Tuesday. These resulted from the comprehensive analysis of activities of beach concessionaires, that was carried out by order of Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova. The purpose of the annexes is to refine the organisation of the current control of beaches regarding concessionaires' main obligations. These include the provision of water life saving activities and medical services, protection of adjacent water areas, as well as sanitary and hygiene maintenance of beaches. It is envisaged that only the lack of rescue posts and a medical centre, as well as the lack of adequate staff will be considered as a substantial failure, in which cases a penalty in the amount of the annual rental price will be imposed. The lack of mandatory elements of the rescue equipment and medical offices will be grounds for the imposition of a penalty amounting to 5% of the annual rental price.

On February 19, 2013, a meeting with all concessionaires for the signing of the annexes to the existing leases will be held at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.
