Bulgaria PM required concrete schedule for lifting visas for Canada at a meeting with Canadian delegation

“Canada’s lifting the visas for Bulgarian citizens is a priority for the government. That is why I want a clear schedule with concrete steps towards lifting the travel restrictions.”
This is what Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said speaking at a meeting with a Canadian delegation, which is on an official visit to Bulgaria, the press office of the Bulgarian Government announced.
“Bulgaria is ready to render the necessary assistance to the expert team from Canada in terms of collecting the needed technical information,” Mr Borisov remarked, addressing the head of the delegation Larisa Galadza, Director General for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship in the Canadian Government.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister said further that he hoped that the visit would be useful and added the visa lifting requirements – control of the borders and security of the travel documents, were kept and were on world level.
“Bulgaria’s border control is often given as a good example by the European leaders, including during the past years of high migration pressure,” the head of the Bulgarian government pointed out.
“In addition, Bulgaria has been already issuing passports with biometric data, recorded in an electronic chip, for more than six years,” Boyko Borisov said.
“Achieving visa reciprocity with Canada is important for us and that it why we hope that it will become a fact very soon,” Mr Borisov remarked.
