Expert Maria Stoyanova: We should learn from Germany’s fast and categorical reaction against terrorism threat

“We should learn from Germany’s fast and categorical reaction against the terrorism threat.”
This is what Maria Stoyanova, analyst and journalist in Germany of many years, said speaking for the morning programme of Radio FOCUS.
According to Ms Stoyanova, the authorities in Germany categorically respond to the threats of terrorism with a package of measures connected with the elections campaign.
“The ban on wearing burqas at public places and the appointment of 15,000 new police officers are just some of the measures that will be proposed in Germany after the series of attacks,” the Bulgarian expert commented further.
According to her, the package of measures that is about to be presented by the interior minister of the country will lead to certain restrictions.
“This package of measures is highly contested. It also envisages suspension of the right of double citizenship provided by Germany. There are other similar strict and categorical positions, which meet with resistance, too. The ordinary Germans are wondering what the effect of these 15,000 more police officers will be, what the burqa ban will achieve, bearing in mind that the issue is not topical for the German society,” Maria Stoyanova said.
She commented further that after the attacks in July the society had been seized with a feeling of uncertainty.
