Prime Minister Borissov meets with the heads of Areva and OMV


The options for the construction of a new block at the Kozloduy NPP and the participation of the French company Areva in the construction of the Belene NPP were discussed at a meeting held between the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the Head of the Areva Nuclear Group, Anne Lauvergeon, announced representatives of the Government Information Service. They discussed the possibilities for strategic partnership in the development of the nuclear sector in Bulgaria. Areva Group's representatives delivered a proposal to the French and German export credit agencies (ECAs), Coface and Hermes to grant a €1.5 bn loan for the plant's construction.

A little later, the PM also met with the CEO of the Austrian OMV, Dr. Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer, with whom he discussed the progress of the Nabucco gas pipeline project. It must be competitive to the South Stream project, explained the PM. Borissov assured Ruttenshtofer that EIB will extend a €1.2 bn loan to our country for the pipeline's construction.
