According to income tax forms filed with the Bulgarian National Audit Office, even the incomes of the GERB government senior officials are frozen

This year, the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and his Deputy Tsvetan Tsvetanov, as well as the Ministers Nikolay Mladenov and Anyu Angelov filed only income tax notifications with the Bulgarian National Audit Office (NAO) under the Public Disclosure of Senior Public Officials’ Financial Interests Act. This means that, in 2010, no change occurred in their financial and property status, requiring the filing of an income tax return. This fact attested that they have not acquired and sold real estates and vehicles, as well as that there is unavailability of cash over BGN 5,000. Besides, they have not granted or borrowed loans and have not deposited funds into bank accounts.

Yesterday, the National Audit Office posted online the income tax forms and notifications lodged in 2011, as well as the names of 18 persons who have failed to fulfil that obligation.

All submitted income tax returns can be read on NAO's website. Among the members of the GERB government, the most interesting income tax statement is that of Finance Minister Simeon Djankov, who is financially encumbered by the payment of the mortgage loan worth $517,621 on his house in Washington with a total area of 720 sq. m. This fact has not obstructed Djankov from saving a total of BGN 26,444 and $22,487.

One of the most calculating senior government officials is Justice Minister, Margarita Popova, whose income tax statement indicated two deposit of BGN 71,071 and of €21,317, stating as income source her salary. Her colleague from the Ministry of Environment and Water, Nona Karadjova has saved from her salary overall BGN 15,400. Besides, Agriculture Minister, Miroslav Naydenov has saved a higher amount. He purchased a garage worth BGN 15,400, remaining with BGN 35,000 on deposit.

The Minister of Education, Youth and Science, Sergey Ignatov has earned overall BGN 29,206 from outside employment or contractual relationships. The Minister of Culture, Vezhdi Rashidov declared a total of BGN 35,783, €45,773 and $1,881 as accrued savings, stating as income source "interests on bank deposits". Furthermore, he has also collected a bit over $150,000 from a granted loan.

The Chairwoman of the National Assembly, Tsetska Tsacheva has withdrawn a consumer loan worth BGN 20,000 and has received a total of BGN 7,000 from rent, probably from her leased out dwelling in Pleven.
