Heating prices in Plovdiv to remain unchanged

Plovdiv DHC (district heating company) will not change the price of heating over the next three months, despite the 10.54% increase in natural gas prices as of April 1. Joerg Zolfelner, Managing Board Chairman of EVN Bulgaria and owner of Plovdiv DHC, specified that, until the beginning of the new pricing period on July 1, heating prices in the city of Plovdiv will retain their levels from October 1st, 2011. He explained that the company has invested BGN 150 mln over the last five years, primarily in the new cogeneration units, and this has allowed prices to stabilise.

Thanks to the modern gas turbine of the new plant, the burning of natural gas is done with a large efficiency percentage, which also reduces its influence in the final price of heating, explained Zolfelner.
The electricity distribution company EVN, which supplies electricity to southeastern Bulgaria, announced officially that it will seek a 4.2 % increase in electricity prices as of July 1.
