Free hotline number for missing children 116 000 activated

The free hotline number 116 000 for missing children has been officially activated. This was announced on Monday at a news conference by Rossanka Venelinova, Executive Director of Centre Nadja Foundation which will service the national hotline.

The hotline 116 000 will work 24/7, 365 days a year. The number is the same as the EU-wide hotline for missing children. Centre Nadja Foundation has an agreement with the Ministry of Interior for cooperation in the case of a missing child. Partners of the initiative also include the State Agency for Child Protection (SACP), the Bulgarian Red Cross, the State Agency National Security and the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.

The free 116 000 hotline is not only a phone number for receiving signals, but also for the provision of practical help, advice and emotional support to children and parents. The 116 000 phone number will receive signals for child escapees (those who have escaped from their home or institution in which they were housed), parental kidnapping (national and international), child abductions, unaccompanied migrant kids and lost children.
