2.7 Kg Opium Seized at Bulgarian-Serbian Border

Bulgarian border police seized 2.7 kg of
opium at the Kalotina crossing on the country's border with
Serbia, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

While checking a Serbian-registered Mercedes-Benz bus, the
officers found plastic packages hidden in the luggage
compartment. The packages contained a light brown substance
which later tested positive for opium.

The driver and the two passengers on the bus, who are Serbian,
were detained at the checkpoint. The Regional Prosecution Office
in Slivnitsa was notified of the case.
